Keep on battling

I used to stress out too much about the way things would go around here. But it seems like it doesn’t matter what you do or how much you stress out. People sometimes don’t realize how hard it is for us to deal with some of the things we’ve had to deal with this year. I think everybody has stepped up and done their thing. Everybody is trying their best out there.

It’s been a tough year, but like I say, you just have to deal with it and suck it up. We’re battling and playing some good games. After that, what else can you do? Maybe this can bring out the best in us. Hang in there, play hard and try to keep doing what we’re doing.

What’s killed us is all these injuries. Youk, Pedey, Ellsbury — those are three big pieces to take out of our lineup. That’s what kills. You’re talking about some of your best players out there in the game, and they’re not there. But what can you do? Fight back with what you have. That’s it.

You see these guys around here still supporting us though. That’s the way it’s supposed to be.

I feel good at this time of the season. I’m the kind of guy where I know what I’m capable of doing. That’s me. People might have tried to get you down earlier in the year, but I wasn’t interested in that. I work every day. I get prepared to play and whateverhappens happens.

Whatever happens after this year, I’m just going to wait and not worry about that right now. Can’t worry about that right now. I think I’ve already shown what I can do.

Look, we still have 31 games left, and that’s what I’m focusing on. You never know what can happen. We’re going to have to keep on playing. The only thing we can do to change things this last month is to win as many as we can.

thanks Big Papi for all you do–both on and off the field! as you stated, with all the injuries; it has been great and satisfying to watch you and the others still playing to your fullest!! now that’s the Boston Red Sox!!!!

David I’m so proud of sharing the same nationality as you… Yes we know this has been a tough year, but I’m happy to see you doing way better than at the beginning of the season. If you were to start as you are hitting right now, would be competing for the leadership in Homeruns. Not only injuries but the distractions in the beginning of the season with that club thing. Be happy, at least someone noticed you are a threat and want to keep you distracted and not hitting. What I admire the most is despite all that you have manage to put good numbers, the winners laugh in the face of adversity, you have done just that. Keep on going

Beautiful !! Focus on the game, don’t ever waste a moment on the people who complain about the team, they are not playing & don’t have a clue what it takes to play a whole season (+ postseason).

I hope you stay with the sox for the duration, but pitching is the name of the game.I know they are doing their best at least at the time, but the redsox dished out alot of money.Maybe Beckett and Lackey will step up in september and make a run.As i said i love you being with the sox,but when you win two championships and make the play offs several times third place won’t cut it,that may sound mean but Boston is that way,as well as new york it goe’s with the territory.Remember you guys are right up there in numbers even with all the injuries,so it has to be pitching.I watch all the games and it seems that Beck and Lack give it up after the fifth inning,it is what it is Pap.

I do not think people realize just how hard it is to be a baseball player in general. Every play counts , every mistake is frowned on and can make these players feel as if they let you down. People just love the sport and love the player no matter what happens out on the field. Please realize that they they do their best. We recently had the privilege of seeing many these players at a hotel of which we stayed at for the game. I can’t begin to tell you how humble and kind these gentleman were. Although my husband and I stayed clear of them to respect their space they acted as no stranger to the public. Smiling at us and anyone around.
Pedroia while sitting in the lobby was friendly and took the time to talk to a large group of kids that approached him. The same goes for Youk. I later watched Pedroia limp away and couldn’t help but feel his pain. He and many of the players on the injured list must be dreading this time. But please know that we miss you and believe you will all be back soon and in the game full force.
    Sincerely
    Mrs. G

And by the way Big Papi looked amazing he lost weight and had a new strength about him. It was a cool moment running into him a few times 🙂

I am proud to wear your name on my shirt. In the beginning of the season, it made me sick how everyone kept talking crap about you. I stand my ground and said, “just wait” and see, I was right. You are my idle. Bring it home Papi. Lookin good!!

    Big Papi,
no matter what happens we’ll continue to support our team! people like you inspire me and give me courage when I’m going through difficult times in my life. Also, whenever you try to steal bases, I get especially encouraged and feel that I can do anything! Keep up the good work

thanks big daddy by these words, because as fan felt he had lost hope of winning, because I consider myself a fan 100% of this fabulous team of beautiful and so much history has given us many joys. just because you think that the injuries we have done great damage this season, while I admire the great talent they have the Red Sox on their farms as these young people who have come to cover several holes have done a fabulous job. For my part, I hope the Red Sox remain a competitive team always ready to give their fans the joy of victory.

    God blesses

Thanks for everything you have done. It convenient for people to forget that what you have done for us during an April slump but one bad month doesn’t take away game winning hits in a 2004 ALCS Game 4 or the fact you were the first Red Sox player in 86 years to hit a home run in a team that won the world series.

Keep at it for the rest of the season, you guys won the first 8 games against New York last year and with 6 left against the Yankees if you pull of a sweep like we believe you can then the playoffs may still be within our grasp.

Papi Grande—Su sonrisa es magnifico! I have followed Los Medias Rojas hace 54 años, and you are one of my favorite players of all time. I appreciate all you do, not only on the field, but all the charity work you do for the people of Boston. I live in upstate New York and only have the opportunity to go to Fenway Park a few times every year and have tickets for Sunday, September 19. I am looking forward to watching the Red Sox play. This team has played with heart and soul, through great adversity this season. I have been impressed with the way everyone has pulled together AS A TEAM to fill in the gaps–Bill Hall, Darnell McDonald, Jed Lowrie–they have played wherever and whenever they were asked to. Mike Lowell–What can I say? He is one classy professional player who has served as a role model for some kids who think that you should just give up when faced with roadblocks. But not Mike. He’s just an amazing person.

I thank you and the entire team for so many entertaining and exciting games this year. When the season ends, no matter whether Los Medias Rojas are in post-season play or not, I will go into baseball withdrawal until next season, waiting for my team, my Red Sox, whom I have loved since I was eight years old, to return. Keep smiling. Keep hitting those home runs (jonrones?). ¡¡¡El Papi Grande ROCKS!!!
